Bernedoodles

A Bernedoodle is a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, and is known for being a fun-loving, intelligent, and hypoallergenic dog:
  • Temperament
Bernedoodles are known for being friendly, playful, and cuddly. They are also generally good with kids and other dogs.
  • Hypoallergenic
Bernedoodles are often considered hypoallergenic because of their low-shedding, low-allergen coat. However, there is no such thing as a completely hypoallergenic dog breed. People with allergies to dog saliva will likely be allergic to all Bernedoodles.
  • Grooming
Bernedoodles need to be brushed regularly to prevent matting and clipped every few months. The curlier the coat, the harder it is to maintain.
  • Appearance
Bernedoodles can have a variety of coat types, including straight, wavy, curly, or unfurnished. Their fur color is usually a combination of their parents' colors, with tri-color (black, white, and brown) being a common and desirable combination.
  • Size
Bernedoodles come in four sizes: miniature, medium, and standard. The size of the Poodle parent determines the size of the Bernedoodle.
Bernedoodles originated in Canada in 2003. They are often assigned a generation label, such as F1, F1b, or Multigenerational which indicates their lineage.

Australian Mountain Doodles

An Australian Mountain Doodle (AMD) is a cross between an Australian Shepherd, Bernese Mountain Dog, and Poodle:
  • Coat
AMDs can have wavy, curly, or straight coats that are typically soft to the touch. The coat type depends on the genes they inherit from their parents. Curly coats are generally considered to be the most low-shedding and allergy-friendly.
  • Energy level
AMDs are more energetic than Bernedoodles due to the Australian Shepherd in their lineage.
  • Color
AMDs can come in a variety of colors, including blue merle, red merle, tricolor, parti, abstract, and tuxedo. Many have blue eyes
  • Family pets
AMDs are great with children and other pets, making them a popular choice for families.
  • Traits
AMDs are known for being friendly, intelligent, and easy to train. They are also considered to be allergy-friendly due to their Poodle heritage.
  • Size
AMDs come in small, medium, and large sizes.

AMDs are often the offspring of an Aussiedoodle and Bernedoodle mix, making them a "double doodle". They are different from Australian Bernedoodles, which are a mix of a Labradoodle and a Cocker Spaniel.
